
JONATHAN WHITNEY has his bachelor’s degree in music education with a concentration in percussion from the University of Delaware, and his masters of music in jazz studies from the University of the Arts.
During his final years at the University of Delaware, as well as for several years following his graduation, Jonathan worked extensively with jazz legend Donald Byrd on numerous education projects.
Jonathan marched for six years with Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps, and taught there for two years. He taught middle and upper school instrumental music for eleven years at the Tatnall School, and he was the music coordinator for his final two years there. He has also done music arranging work for many organizations, including Brandywine High School, Shepherd University, Christiana High School, Tuscarora High School, and the Wilmington Children’s Chorus. Jonathan has performed with a variety of artists, including Linda Clifford, Pamela Stanley, the Chantels, the Ellen Lebowitz Quartet, the Don Glanden Trio, and the Wilmington Children’s Chorus, along with performing with his own ensembles. He continues to perform regularly within a variety of musical genres including classical, jazz, rock, pop, and gospel.
